Sneha Thamotharan, PhD
Biography
Dr. Thamotharan, PhD, was mentored by Dr. Christopher Houck during her T32 fellowship. She was awarded an NIH K23 award focused on developing an m-Learning course to improve pediatric resident training on providing culturally responsive sexual and reproductive health services to young women of color (K23MD016433). She was also awarded a Graduate Assistance in Areas of National Need (GAANN) Grant (P200A220112) from the Department of Education. This pathway grant provides fellowships to assist graduate students with excellent academic records who demonstrate financial need and plan to pursue a doctoral degree in Clinical Health Psychology. She has also served as Co-I on an Administrative Supplement for Curriculum or Training Activities to Enhance Wellness and Resiliency in the MARC U-STAR Program (T34GM096958). In addition, she received a NIH Loan Repayment Award and Renewal from NICHD (NICHD L30HD093141) and was a 2017 NIMHD’s Health Disparities Research Institute Scholar. Dr. Thamotharan’s research productivity includes 27 publications (22 peer-reviewed) and seven published journal abstracts.
After her fellowship, Dr. Thamotharan became a tenure-track Assistant Professor at the University of Colorado, Denver and Anschutz Medical Campus. Subsequently, she became the Director of the Office of Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion at Wake Forest University School of Medicine (WFUSM).
