The Clinical Psychology Training Programs at Brown: A Consortium of the Providence VA Medical Center, Lifespan, and Care New England consists of both the Clinical Psychology Internship Training Program and the Postdoctoral Fellowship Training Program (PFTP). It is centrally controlled through a Training Committee that is within the Department of Psychiatry & Human Behavior (DPHB). The Training Committee, under the leadership of the Director of the Clinical Psychology Internship Training Program and Director of the Postdoctoral Fellowship Training Program, is responsible to the Director of the Division of Clinical Psychology and the Chair of the DPHB.
The Training Committee is the central coordinating body of the Clinical Psychology Internship Training Program and Postdoctoral Fellowship Training Program policies and goals. Admission principles and procedures, determination of stipends, assignment of trainees for training and supervision, quality control of the training experience, and evaluation of trainees’ performance are uniform at all sites and administered by the Training Committee.
Representatives from each of the eight affiliated sites are appointed to the Training Committee by the Director of the Division of Clinical Psychology. In addition, clinical psychology resident and postdoctoral fellow representatives are appointed to the Training Committee.
