Training
The Clinical Psychology Internship Training Program provides training at the predoctoral level for students interested in careers relevant to clinical science, research, and practice. The overall training philosophy of the program reflects a commitment to the development of psychologists who will apply scientific knowledge to human behavior in clinical practice and who will advance clinical science research.
The primary aim of the Clinical Psychology Internship Training Program is to provide an integrated year of predoctoral training which emphasizes both breadth and depth of clinical exposure. The overall aims are:
- to ensure adequate levels of proficiency in the core aspects of assessment, therapy, consultation and clinical research within clinical psychology;
- to provide a beginning concentration in a particular area of clinical psychology; and
- to advance the overall professional development of clinical psychologists in training.
All clinical psychology residents are admitted to the training program within a track, or area of emphasis, which represents their career focus or interests. The Clinical Psychology Internship offers intensive training in four specific areas (tracks) of clinical psychology:
Many predoctoral clinical psychology residents stay at Brown to complete their postdoctoral fellowship training!
