Elizabeth Olsen, MD
Biography
Dr. Olsen’s research focuses on the reduction of HIV risk behaviors and substance use among Court-involved youth using brief family-based interventions. She is a graduate of Stony Brook School of Medicine where she received awards for Excellence in Clinical Research and in Psychiatry and was named to the Gold Humanism Honor Society. After medical school, she completed her General Psychiatry Residency and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (CAP) Fellowship at Brown and participated in the NIMH R25 Research Training Tracks in residency and fellowship. She is currently mentored by Drs. Whiteley and Brown as a T32 fellow. In 2020, Dr. Olsen was an awardee at the American Psychiatric Association Research Colloquium for Junior Psychiatrists at the Annual American College of Neuropsychopharmacology Conference. In 2023, she was also awarded the Haffenreffer House Staff Excellence Award from Rhode Island Hospital. She has authored 10 peer-reviewed publications and her poster “Family Factors Associated with Delinquency Outcomes in Court-Involved Youth in Mental Health Treatment” was awarded first prize for psychiatry at the 2023 Brown University Mind Brain Day Conference.
