Arryn Guy, PhD
Biography
During her T32 fellowship, Dr. Guy, PhD, was mentored by Dr. Kahler along with secondary mentorship from Dr. Brown. Dr. Guy completed cross-training with the Alcohol Research Center on HIV (ARCH) and Center for Alcohol and Addiction Studies (CAAS) in the School of Public Health, focusing on the intersection of HIV comorbidities and substance use among transgender and gender diverse populations. While in the T32, Dr. Guy received an NIH Loan Repayment Award from NIAAA (L30AA029578; PI: A. Guy) and a pilot award from the Alcohol Research Center on HIV (ARCH; P01AA019072; PI: Kahler) to conduct research focused on transgender women of color, HIV risk, and alcohol use. At the end of her T32 training, Dr. Guy received a K99/R00 pathway to independence award from NIDA to develop a peer-delivered gender affirming ACT intervention to reduce substance use problems and HIV risk among transgender women (K99DA055508; PI: Guy; IRB protocol approval 04/07/2022).
After her fellowship, Dr. Guy continued her research career as an investigator in the Brown School of Public Health and an Assistant Professor at the Illinois Institute of Technology.
